Who can receive a meal?
Anyone can get meals, there are no strict guidelines or means testing.
If you can't shop or cook with ease or consider yourself in need of meals you can receive meals. This could include the elderly, someone with a disability or someone recovering from an illness or admission to hospital.
Meals can be provided on a long or short term basis.
What is a meal?
Soup, main meal, dessert and a juice.
We also provide alternatives to the soup and dessert if you prefer.
Can I choose my meals?
We have an eight week menu cycle which we cook to. If you don't like a particular food item let the office know and you will be given an alternative based on your preferences and what is available on the day.
What is the cost?
Subsidised meals cost $9.00. To receive a subsidised meal you will need to be registered with My Aged Care 1800 200 422
If you are on a Home Care Package or getting meals through NDIS, meals will cost you a small co-payment towards the cost of the ingredients.
For Home Care Package clients the out of pocket cost starts from $4.50, your Home Care Package provider will contribute up to $10.80 per meal package. The price on a Home Care Package differs slightly depending on your provider.
NDIS clients will pay $3.70 with NDIS contributing $10.80 per meal package.
If you do not qualify for a subsidy a meal will cost $12.50.
I am on the NDIS, can I receive meals from Coolum Beach Meals on Wheels?
Yes, Coolum Beach Meals on Wheels is registered as an NDIS Service Provider. If meals are part of your plan all you will have to pay is a small co-payment towards the cost of the ingredients.
I have a Home Care Package, can I receive meals?
Yes, we deliver meals to recipients of Home Care Packages. You will need to talk to your provider to determine if you have the funds available to cover meals.
What days are deliveries made?
We operate and deliver meals Monday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday.
Can I leave an esky out for my delivery?
No, we are required to give the meal to a person or place the meal in a refrigerator. If you are not going to be home call the office, they are great at problem solving and will help you come up with a solution.
Do you deliver on public holidays?
Yes we deliver on public holidays if it is our normal delivery day.
Do I have to sign a contract?
No, we don't have contracts. You can opt in or out depending on your need.
Do I have to have meals every day?
No, you can have meals from one to seven days per week. It is your choice.
Can I change my delivery days?
Yes, you can change your delivery days. It is your choice.
Can I collect my meals from the kitchen?
Yes, some clients find it more convenient to collect their meals from our kitchen.
